About

Precious metal clay is a crafting medium of very small particles of precious metals like bronze, silver, gold, or copper and an organic binder and water. Developed in Japan in 1990, it can be shaped like any soft clay.

Playing with this clay is like revisiting childhood joys! Working with bronze clay, which is considerably less expensive than the silver varieties, allows you to experiment freely, learn many techniques, and create a number of unique pieces.

In the first session, you'll be introduced to the medium and procedures for success along with associated tools and ideas for creative motivation. Due to the extensive firing schedule, all pieces will be fired off campus during the interim week.

The second session will focus on analysis of fired pieces, finishing techniques, and continued play!

Materials

  • A $35 materials fee, included in the cost of this class, covers all the materials you'll need.
  • You should bring glasses/magnifiers, your imagination, a sense of adventure, and coffee!
