About

Part of our work will include examining the works of famous artists and exploring their approach to color. Here are the focuses of each day:

  • Introduction to the color wheel: Learn about primary, secondary, tertiary colors, and tints, shades, and tones. You'll be looking at how various artists use different color schemes and painting techniques. You'll create your own color wheel by mixing watercolors and mixing pastels.
  • Still-life in color with pastels: You'll put your color wheel theory into action by drawing from still-life and using pastels as your medium for this session.
  • Self-portrait in pastels: We'll explore different types of portraits, discuss some famous works, and you'll experiment with creating our own self-portrait in the spirit of an artist of your choice.
  • Mix-media. Experimenting with pens and watercolors: You'll start by abstracting an image of your choice into a composition of colors, and then work with a pen using line drawing to introduce a figurative composition of your choice.
