About

Brazing is ideally suited for joining dissimilar metals at relatively low temperatures. There are six fundamentals of brazing that every "brazer" should follow to ensure consistent and repeatable joint quality, strength, and reliability.

The class focus will be determined by students' preferences and skill level. Generally, the focus will either be brazing or silver soldering fundamentals, or brazing and silver soldering as applied to repairs. For repairs, attention will be paid to surface preparation, proper fit-up and spacing, and other considerations. Common to both will be "manual brazing," which is brazing with a hand-held torch and hand-fed filler metal. Oxyacetylene will be used.
