About

Painting architectural subjects may seem daunting or overly technical to many. However, once you learn to see them as dynamic forms of light and shadow, the process becomes much easier and more exciting. This workshop will teach you how to simplify geometric shapes, interpret them as light and dark forms, while seamlessly incorporating architectural elements into your landscape paintings.

Class 1: Learn how to translate complex forms into basic geometric shapes, draw accurate perspectives using the notion of axis and planes.
Class 2: Develop tasteful compositions by evaluating a series of photo examples and sketching out possible compositions based on a chosen photo.
Class 3: A series of tonal studies that combine architectural elements with landscape elements, and learn how to intentionally create sharp vs. soft edges.
Class 4: Paint a complete scene of a Pacific Northwest town nestled in the forests
