About
Create a charming small wall quilt on a soft, neutral, hand-dyed wool background, adorned with nine indigo vases brimming with blooms. In this workshop, you’ll begin by embellishing each vase using hand-dyed indigo fabrics, threads, and beads. Then, bring each vase to life with textural stems and dimensional flowers. You'll learn a variety of techniques like English Paper Piecing, ruching ribbons, ribbon flowers, perfect leaves and stems, fussy cutting, velvet embossing and appliqué, Dorset buttons, hexagon yo-yos, and of course ... embroidery!
Details
- This workshop requires homework before it begins. You'll purchase, separately, the Sue Spargo Kit for Indigo Vases, and layer the background with neutral fabrics and ribbons and appliqué the nine vases in place. You'll bring this piece to class, ready to learn!
- Skill Level: Advanced beginners and beyond.
- There are only 16 spots available so this class will fill extremely quickly. If that happens, click "Waitlist" (no charge to do so). You'll be notified via email if there's a cancellation. Openings are made available to the entire wait list as they become available.
- This event will be held in the Great Room, which is to the left as you enter the main doors.
- See Visit BARN for information on getting to BARN, local transportation, lodging, dining, and things to do.
Materials
- A materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers drinks and snacks during the workshop week. If you're not ordering lunch with the group, be sure to bring your own lunch each day. There is a refrigerator and microwave on the lower level.
- Materials for the class can be purchased at suespargo.com, with some materials available for purchase from Sue directly during the workshop. A supplies list will be sent to you with your registration confirmation, and provide a complete explanation of what you'll need.
- Indigo Vases: Materials List provides more information on pre-workshop prep and materials to bring.
