About

This three-hour class offers a fun, hands-on introduction to enameling. You’ll create colorful magnets and pins from copper, learning basic techniques while experimenting with color and design. Walk away with a few finished pieces ready to display or give as gifts.

Details

Bring an apron and a pen, notebook, and an Ultra Fine-Point Sharpie, or other pen that writes on metal.

Materials

A $28 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers everything you'll need, including enamel supplies, copper, pins, magnets, epoxy.

Class Policies

  • Wear closed-toe shoes and natural-fiber clothing.
  • Do not wear loose or synthetic-fiber clothing, dangling jewelry, scarves, or ties.
  • Tie back long hair and beards.
  • Bring your own safety glasses and magnifying glasses or use the ones available in the studio.
  • Bring a towel to dry your hands and metal.
  • Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Karin Luvaas

Karin Luvaas is a Bainbridge Island artist and jeweler with a degree in encaustics, painting, and metal sculpture. She has studied under numerous jewelry masters including Blaine Lewis, founder of New Approach School for Jewelers in Tennessee, and achieved graduate jeweler status under Alan Revere of the world-renowned Revere Academy of San Francisco. Karin also is a GIA Graduate Gemologist and holds a Jewelers of America Bench Jeweler Technician certificate. Her current work can be seen at karinluvaas.com
