About

Bring your pre-made metal garden stakes to class and transform them into stunning outdoor mosaics using glass, tile, and other durable materials. You’ll learn how to design for weather resistance, cut and fit tesserae, and apply adhesives and grout suited for exterior projects.

This class is perfect for all skill levels; basic mosaic experience is helpful but not required. You’ll use glass cutters, nippers, and other standard mosaic tools. Created as a follow-up to BARN's Welding: Make Metal Garden Stakes Ready to Mosaic class, this glass mosaic session focuses on the creative finishing process.

Project

The metal component of this class is separate. Please come prepared with 1 to 2 metal stakes to finish with mosaic. If you have any questions, please contact info@bainbridgebarn.org or call the Front Desk at (206)842-4475.

Materials

A $5 materials fee covers all the mosaic supplies you need for this class.

Barbara Henderson

Barbara is a mosaicist with a passion for helping others express themselves through the art of mosaics. She discovered art a little later in life than lots of other people, having been distracted by corporate life, ladder climbing, and the nonsense idea that she wasn’t creative. Now her favorite thing is to watch a student realize their unique ability to produce something personal and meaningful, and to develop their own artistic vision. Her favorite saying is that “perfection can be purchased at the Dollar Store. Art and beauty are found in the unique and flawed.” She serves on a variety of boards and committees and lives in Gig Harbor with her husband and far too many dogs and chickens.
