About
Glass can be heated to a plastic, almost flowing state to drop through an open shaped mold to form taller shapes than can be achieved with a standard slumping mold. Coldworking provides a finished edge to the dropped shape.
During the first day of class, you will learn design considerations for creating a drop out blank and then have time to create a blank for a 4¾ inch bowl. You will also learn to use the coldworking equipment to finish the edge of a 3-inch pre-made dropped bowl.
On the second day of class, you will witness a drop out in progress and learn the steps to set up the kiln and glass blank for your own drop out. You will need to schedule a date to drop your blank and finish your bowl’s edge during an open studio.
This class is designed for those with fusing experience.
