About

Now that you've learned how to cut glass and designed and created at least one leaded or copper foil stained glass window, you may be asking "what's next?" How about an opportunity to design a window combining the structure of leaded glass with the intricacy of copper foil, using your window-building skills as the basis?

You'll choose from provided materials such as beveled glass elements, glass jewels, rocks, and beach glass. You can also bring your own elements. And bring three design sketches with you to the first session.

Details

  • Skill level: Intermediate.
  • You'll design and build a window about 20 inches square.
  • You must be able to use Open Studio time to complete work from one session to be prepared for the following session.
  • You can also sign up for an optional sixth session to complete your work with the same instructor.
  • Keep in mind that missing any sessions could affect your ability to complete your project by the time the class concludes.

Materials

A $48 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers everything you'll need. You can also bring your own elements to include in your window if you'd like options beyond the provided materials.

Prerequisites

  • You must have experience in glass cutting and have taken either A-Z of Stained Glass or Copper Foil Stained Glass
  • Experience with stained glass, copper foil or equivalent knowledge to design and build a stained glass window gained elsewhere is appropriate preparation for this class.

Class Policies

  • Ages 14 and up are welcome.
  • Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required in the Glass Studio at all times.
  • Long hair should be tied back when working with grinders and other power tools and wet room equipment.

Diane Bonciolini

Diane Bonciolini is the olini of Mesolini Glass Studio. Glass is her passion. As a full-time glass artist who has lived and worked on Bainbridge Island since 1977, she grows and changes with every project. She describes glass as having a life of its own. This multifaceted medium shows itself in each of her creations: stained glass, slumped and fused glass, lamp work, or glass combined with concrete.
