About
This class is for those who have a basic knowledge of crochet but have not done crochet amigurumi before.
- You will start by learning how to increase and decrease with single crochet to shape the fabric. You will also learn how to change colors and review how to start and fasten off (finish).
- You will then start the project, working during the first session to create the body of the bird. In the second session you will stuff and close the body, then make the nose, tail, wings, and feet for you to attach to the body.
Project
You will crochet a 4-inch goldfinch.
Materials
The $10 material fee included in the price of the class includes worsted-weight cotton yarn, polyester stuffing, craft wire, and safety eyes.

Instructors or Guides
Robyn Weimer
Robyn learned to crochet from her grandmother in high school, along with many other needle arts including macrame, needlepoint, crewel, and cross stitch. She did many crochet projects over several years, until her children and career squeezed out the time to continue. After retiring in 2019, she has resumed crochet and other needle arts and gratefully found that the muscle memory came back quickly. After moving back to the PNW in 2021, she joined BARN and now participates in Fiber Arts, Woodworking, and the Tech Lab. She’s interested in learning new skills and finding opportunities for cross-studio collaboration.
