About

Instructors or Guides

Sara Bixler

Sara is the owner and resident instructor of Red Stone Glen Fiber Arts Center in Pennsylvania (https://redstoneglen.com/). Her students praise her ability to guide them through the challenging world of color theory. Sara has spent many years experimenting with color in weaving, focusing her studies on how color relationships are affected by yarn size, luster, sett, and weave structure. She loves giving students core principles to follow so they become more confident in their color decisions. A second-generation handweaver, spinner and dyer, she credits her father, master weaver Tom Knisely, for the depth of her knowledge. Sara holds bachelor’s degrees in fine arts and K-12 education, is a frequent contributor to Handwoven and Spin Off magazines, and lives in a historic 1810 home which also serves as a haven for fiber artists.
