About
Using cliches in your prose might seem like just a drop in the bucket, but maybe it's time to read between the lines. Before you get all bent out of shape about it, consider how this module can help you whip your prose into shape. Before long, you'll be turning a phrase with the best of them.
This class is for writers at any level who want to improve the quality of their prose, especially those who may have been dinged by a critique partner or teacher in the past for using a cliché and don’t see what the big deal is. Let’s talk about it!
You can expect the following:
- Learn where prose clichés in your writing come from and how to catch them.
- Understand the effect on quality, originality, and familiarity of using prose clichés.
- Consider when you might deploy prose clichés intentionally, and to what end.
- Practice handling prose clichés in revision with a short activity.
