About
If you've never crocheted at all, or you haven't for a while and need a refresher, you will learn:
- The six basic crochet stitches that are the foundation of all crochet, and crochet a swatch to practice them.
- How to work crochet flat and in the round.
- Ways to start and finish projects.
- How to read basic crochet patterns.
Along the way, you’ll also learn about other crochet styles you may wish to explore and see some advanced techniques that will be covered in future classes.
Project
You will make a granny square coaster using most of the basic stitches learned in class.
Materials
A $15 material fee, included in the cost of the class, covers a set of crochet hooks and all other materials needed for the class.

Instructors or Guides
Robyn Weimer
Robyn learned to crochet from her grandmother in high school, along with many other needle arts including macrame, needlepoint, crewel, and cross stitch. She did many crochet projects over several years, until her children and career squeezed out the time to continue. After retiring in 2019, she resumed crochet and other needle arts and gratefully found that the muscle memory came back quickly. After moving back to the Pacific Northwest in 2021, she joined BARN and now participates in the Fiber Arts, Woodworking, and Tech Lab studios. She’s interested in learning new skills and finding opportunities for cross-studio collaboration.
