About
Enter the world of mosaics, the decoration of a surface with small, various colored pieces of material, in this case, glass. This is also a fantastic opportunity to learn glass-cutting skills, including scoring, nipping, and shaping glass into specific angles and forms using hand and powered grinders. You'll understand why this technique is a favorite since antiquity!
- Day One: Learn how nippers cut glass for application to a rock, creating garden art or a memento to honor a favorite pet.
- Day Two: Expand cutting and shaping skills to create glass mosaic pieces used to create a heart wall plaque or mirror.
- Day Three: Use all tools plus powered grinders and the ring saw to decorate either a flower pot or bee bath of mosaics.
- Day Four: You'll grout your projects and learn the best techniques for securing mosaics with aesthetic appeal.

Barbara Henderson
Barbara is a mosaicist with a passion for helping others express themselves through the art of mosaics. She discovered art a little later in life than lots of other people, having been distracted by corporate life, ladder climbing, and the nonsense idea that she wasn’t creative. Now her favorite thing is to watch a student realize their unique ability to produce something personal and meaningful, and to develop their own artistic vision. Her favorite saying is that “perfection can be purchased at the Dollar Store. Art and beauty are found in the unique and flawed.” She serves on a variety of boards and committees and lives in Gig Harbor with her husband and far too many dogs and chickens.
