Join us for an informative presentation on estate planning and charitable giving, designed to provide individuals with basic knowledge and tools to design their legacy and make a positive impact in their community. This workshop will cover essential concepts such as wills, living trusts, beneficiary designations, and gift/estate tax planning, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of how to protect and distribute their assets according to their wishes.

In addition, participants will learn about the benefits of charitable planning and various tax techniques to maximize their charitable deductions while supporting their community. This free drop-in event is being hosted jointly by BARN and the Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center as a benefit to the community.

Dorothy Foster

Dorothy K. Foster is owner of the Bainbridge Island and Seattle law firm of Foster Law Group, PLLC, where she practices in the areas of estate planning and nonprofit tax-exempt organizations, with emphases in international estate planning and charitable organizations. She holds Masters' degrees in English, from Washington State University, and in Linguistics, from the University of Colorado. She graduated with distinction from the University of Nebraska School of Law where she was a Regents Law Scholar, a member of the Order of the Coif, and Research Editor of the Nebraska Law Review. Ms. Foster is a former Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Washington School of Law and former Trustee of the King County Bar Foundation. She is a member of the Taxation, Real Property/Probate, and International Sections of the Washington State Bar Association; and the Taxation, Real Property and Probate, and International Sections of the American Bar Association. She is a founder and former President of the Seattle Branch of the international Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners and is a certified mediator.
