About
This workshop is designed for people who know how to weave and would love to know more about the wide world of twills, a type of textile weave with a pattern of diagonal parallel ribs.
Prior to the workshop, you'll pre-warp your loom for one of the threadings chosen from the warping instructions (two 4-shaft threadings and three 8-shaft threadings). During the workshop, you'll begin with the fundamentals of twills and continue through advancing, networked, and parallel twills. Weaving samples will alternate with a series of presentations and discussions. No finished project will be created.
Details
- You’ll pre-warp a studio loom before the workshop. Looms will be available for warping Dec. 3-6. If you plan to bring your own loom pre-warped, or won’t be available to warp your loom during that time, email weaving.coordinator@bainbridgebarn.org to make arrangements.
- Bring a sack lunch for a one-hour break each day. BARN has a refrigerator and microwave on the lower level.
- Note: This is not a round-robin workshop.
Materials
- A $20 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers a workshop notebook and samples from the instructor.
- In addition to warping your loom before class, you'll need to provide warp and weft thread and download a copy of Twill Workshop Instructions and Supply List. This list contains detailed instructions on the materials required and preparations you'll need to make before class begins. For questions, please contact Alex McKeon at weaving.coordinator@
bainbridgebarn.org.
