Make a screen printed T-shirt to take home and wear proudly!

An experienced printmaker will guide you through every step of the screen printing process, which commercial printers use today for the design of mass-produced clothing. Discover this wonderful DIY process that will have you printing your own shirts in no time! All aspects of screen printing will be covered including how to transfer an image to the screen, how to properly set up the screen for printing, what types of inks can be used and how to heat set for washing the T-shirt fabric.

Materials

A $25 materials fee, included in the cost of this class, covers a cotton t-shirt you'll be given to work with in class. All other equipment, tools, and ink needed will be provided.
You need to supply your creativity with design ideas or sketches for use in class.

Class Policies

Ages 9 and up are welcome.
Dress for a mess! Dyes and ink can stain, so wear dark clothing or clothes your don't mind getting stained. Wear closed-toe shoes and (optionally) bring an apron.
Bring a bag lunch. A refrigerator and microwave are available on the lower level.

Instructors or Guides

Dana Seeger
Screen Printing, Surface Design

Dana Harris Seeger was born in San Francisco and split her childhood between California and Indiana. She pursued her passion in high school and college and received a bachelor's degree in painting from Anderson University in Indiana in 2004 and a master's in fine arts in printmaking from San Jose State University in 2011. She is a member of the California Society of Printmakers. In 2014, Dana co-created an art studio and school in San Jose, Calif., called the School of Visual Philosophy. Her work in printmaking and painting helps her connect real to imagined memories and her life experiences to her heritage. Growing up as a second-generation Baltic American, she has always tried to connect the artifacts acquired from Estonia and Latvia into her own story. She lives in Poulsbo with her husband (a sculptor), daughter, and twin sons.
