About

Receive basic instruction on how to:

  • Safely cut steel with saws and grinders, 
  • Free-form cut steel with our plasma torches,
  • Tack-weld with our Miller 215 MIG (metal inert gas) welders. 

This hands-on class is designed to build skills and confidence to safely use the various tools for more challenging projects. And, it's a great way to see if metal working is something you want to delve more deeply. Above all though, this is truly a FUN class full of great learning experiences.

  • Safety and personal protection equipment will be provided.
  • A Materials Fee of $10 is included in the price of the class.

Registering Youth

  • Parent/guardian registering a child for the first time: When you register, select "Others Only" in the "Who Are You Registering?" section. On the next page, select "Add New Registrant." Create an account for your child.
    • The next time you register your child, use "Search Registrants" to select them.
  • Make sure to fill out your youth's emergency contact information and other details when creating their account.

Materials

A class materials fee of $10 is included in the price of the class.

There are no prerequisites for this class.

Class Policies

  • Ages 12 to 16 are welcome.
  • Wear natural-fiber clothing, long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toed shoes (preferably leather or cotton). No stretch fabrics.
  • Personal protection equipment will be provided.
