About

Join us for two days of twining fun! We'll use this traditional basket-making process to construct small, whimsical sculptures. On day one, you’ll learn how to start a sculpture and divide it into multiple branches. On day two, we’ll cover ways to create interest, embellish your work with beads, and make sure it balances.

You may not finish your sculpture in class, but you’ll leave with all of the materials and know-how you need to complete it at home.

Materials

A $28 materials fee, included in the price of the class, covers everything you need to make your basket. You'll have a choice of waxed linen threads and embellishments such as beads.

Class Policies

Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Katy Levit

Bainbridge Island artist Katy Levit creates hand-made, one-of-a-kind sculptures and functional pieces in both porcelain and fiber. Inspired by nature and the everyday objects around her, Katy’s work explores vulnerability, chaos, and the wonder that can be found in the ordinary. In addition to her own studio practice, Katy enjoys teaching others the delight that can be found in creating something that wasn’t there before. When Katy’s not in the studio she can be found hiking on one of the island’s forest trails or curled up with a cup of tea, a book, and a small dachshund.
