About

Learn the pie-making secrets behind Squeaky Wheels' “Bike for Pie” infamous peach, apple, mixed berry, and "newcomer" strawberry-rhubarb pies.

Each year for more than a decade, pie master Jens has led enthusiastic volunteers in baking nearly 80 fruit pies for Bainbridge Island’s Bike for Pie bicycle ride. Our pastry recipe was crafted with the help of Chef Tamas Ronyai, and all our pie filling is made with fresh fruit.

On the first day, we'll prepare fruit fillings and pastry dough. On the second day, we'll roll out the dough and then build, decorate, and bake the pies. You'll get to take home a pie!

Details

  • Bike for Pie is the only fundraiser for Squeaky Wheels, a Bainbridge Island bicycle advocacy group. It helps support Bike to School Day, bicycle projects, and efforts that encourage bicycling.
  • This year's Bike for Pie is planned for 9 AM - 2 PM on Sunday, Aug. 31, with departures from Town Square, 208 Madison Ave. N. See Squeaky Wheels for details and registration.
  • BARN’s kitchen facility regularly uses ingredients on the FDA’s major allergens list. This class uses milk (butter), eggs, and wheat.
