About

Instead of the usual talk and slide show, the August Woodworkers' Presentation is a field trip to the Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-Op to see how the crew there is renovating the Lady Washington, a 112-foot replica of an 18th-century tall ship.

Built in Aberdeen, Wash., in 1989 for the state's centennial celebrations, the ship has been named Washington State's Tall Ship Ambassador and is the official State Ship. The Lady Washington is operated by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority and has appeared in numerous films, including “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Star Trek Generations.” Once the restoration is complete, the Lady Washington will return to its home port of Aberdeen and resume conducting educational trips along the Pacific Coast in Oregon and California.

Details

  • Registration is required (unlike our usual monthly presentations) so we don't overwhelm our hosts at the Shipwrights Co-Op. Please register above.
  • Registration is limited to BARN members only.
  • To get there: Allow two hours' driving time for possible summer traffic and/or Hood Canal Bridge openings. If interested in carpooling, please meet others on the grassy overflow parking area south of BARN at 9 AM.
  • If the field trip is full, add yourself to the waitlist so we can gauge whether to consider a second field trip.
  • Questions? Email registrar@bainbridgebarn.org, and include "Lady Washington" in the subject line.
