Learn how to combine screen printing and embroidery in an organic and creative way. Screen printing can be painterly or photographic and mechanical. You'll learn how to create an image on the screen to use as a stencil, print it using water-based inks, and then add simple, decorative embroidery stitches to embellish your design. The possibilities are endless!
Some learning outcomes and demonstrations:
- Brief lecture on the history of screen printing, what types of imagery you can expect from different methods, and how to use the screen for a range of results.
- Demonstration of image and stencil making. You'll create your stencils.
- Lunch break.
- Demonstration of printing techniques.
- You'll print your designs.
- Demonstration of basic embroidery stitches.
- You'll start your embroidery.
- Clean up and show and tell.
Materials
A $25 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers everything you'll need.
