About

Learn BARN’s expectations of using its sewing machines so you can use them on your own. If you have a basic understanding of sewing, and want to sew in a community setting at BARN, this will earn you certification for independent use of BARN sewing machines.

You’ll learn the importance of such things as setup, threading, and machine capabilities. Feel free to bring a pattern or fabric to share with the instructor for a class discussion.

Class Policies

Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Marcia Adams-Landry

Marcia's mother, a 4-H leader, taught her and many of Marcia's friends how to sew. When Marcia sits down to sew, whatever the project might be, she's reminded of all her mother taught her and it gives her great pleasure to pass along some basic sewing skills in BARN's Fiber Arts Studio. In fact, Marcia says fiber is in her DNA and has played many roles and taken many forms in her life over the years.

Danielle Mariani

Danielle has been a quilter for 25 years and is a former board member of the Austin Modern Quilt Guild. She finds joy in vivid colors and loves to sew curved quilt blocks. She hopes to inspire new quilters here at BARN.
