About
This is a great introduction to the art of intaglio printmaking — incising lines onto a substrate and transferring ink from the image to paper. We'll use recycled Tetra Pak (food and beverage packaging, or cartons) as our substrate or “plates” to scratch, etch, and draw upon. Using intaglio printmaking techniques, you'll then print your “plates” with the help of the etching press. These unique plates can be cut into shapes with the line work within, so think about the opportunities for multi-color and multi-dimensional imagery!
The first part of the class will be dedicated to creating the plates while the second part will be about printing multiple copies with the intaglio style of printing. You'll have the opportunity to learn how to use the etching presses and possibilities of creating prints at home.
